Review of Jurassic Park (1993) by Josh K — 02 Jan 2014
Steven Spielberg hits gold with this film that focuses on the cloning of dinosaurs and a themed park on a tropical island. Based on the Michael Crichton book, the film follows two dinosaur experts and a chaos theorist who are invited to view a dinosaur themed island by an eccentric millionaire.
Most of the film takes place on the island, with Spielberg wonderfully building suspense slowly and than when the big stuff happens it never disappoints. The dinosaurs don't really remind of you big special effects, but more as real dinosaurs who wonderfully add to the film and are the best part.
Whenever watching the film, you are amazed by the sense of detail and authenticity that is brought to each dinosaur. The cast is also perfect, primarily Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, while Richard Attenborough gives a terrific supporting performance as the millionaire.
The action is terrific, John Williams's score is memorable and the film never disappoints. Once again, Spielberg has delivered another winner. Well done.
