Review of Jurassic Park (1993) by Ninteldritch — 04 Jul 2023
From the moment that helicopter landed on Isla Nublar, this movie took me. The sense of wonder it's first part gives off is truly incredible. The Brachiosaurus scene gives me chills, even in the LEGO version.
The atmosphere then slowly, very slowly, recedes into apprehension and anxiety, until suddenly - terror. The characters are fairly one-sided, but this somehow works to make the movie more compelling, with the many different perspectives the characters have on the park and the situation.
The film is often dark and terrifying. But it never truly loses that sense of awe and wonder, that sense of hope. The acting is good. The score is fantastic. The cinematography and shooting are insane.
Simultaneously a phenomenally terrifying monster thriller with pioneering special effects and a surprisingly heartfelt, compelling film about the beauty of life and the nature of humanity, this is a must-watch.
An absolute masterpiece, and one of my favorite films of all time.
