Junebug is a quiet little gem that perfectly depicts the collision between human beings settled in a ridiculously minuscule universe and others living a fast-paced city life. It's quirky, psychologically astute and resolutely life-sized, but it still manages to sneak up on you and seriously impress like big awards bait films often attempt.

Also proof that you don't need all sorts of gimmicky comedy hijinks like to stage a step-family comedy as funny as Meet the Parents... Wilson, Weston, McKenzie and especially Adams deliver wonderfully spontaneous and touching performances-- their ticks, southern accents and exaggerated gestures never upstage their character's humanity.

Equally convincing are Nivola and Davidtz as the respectful but (understandably) a little disturbed city couple. Surely among the best films of 2005; it deserves to be seen by anyone.
