Review of Junebug (2005) by Heart C — 02 Apr 2011
"Junebug" can best be described as an Indie, Slice of Life Film. It is character driven rather than plot. It is a display of counter cultures without picking judgement. It illustrated the contrast while subtly highlighting the common bonds.
I was a little unsure about the indie side of the film. Scene changes were often awkward or even cut off. Amy Adams is brilliant and perfectly embodies every trait a born and raised North Carolinian would have.
Benjamin McKenzie was also surprisingly convincing in his role. Although I enjoyed the movie I wouldn't recommend it to most people. I think my mix of North Carolinian and Yankee is what made this film ring true for me.
