Review of Junebug (2005) by Jess L — 30 Jan 2008
This movie excels because it is so "normal" and realistic; hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. Amy Adams is of course the stand out and her character's fate adds the dramatic edge to this film.
The entire cast is wonderful and special mention to Ben McKenzie (of TV's OC fame) who was a definite surprise in this understated role. If all you have seen of him is crappy teen TV drama then check him out in this film; the scene where he is watching the Meerkat documentary cracked me up.
An honest film with realistic and lovable despite their flaws characters this is truly a gem of a movie.
