Review of Junebug (2005) by Salomon M — 07 Nov 2008
This movie is so wonderful. It is very understated, it has humble characters in a humble setting living a humble life. It is shot in a very minimalistic way, avoiding too many tricks or special effects, and even music is avoided throughout large parts of the movie.
However when it does swoop in it makes the moments even more special. Amy Adams proves once again in this movie how absolutely wonderful she is, she just radiates and glows in this movie, as she does in every movie of her I've ever seen.
The rest of the cast is all around good too, though Amy Adams and Alessandro Nivola are the only stand outs, to me. It's quite sad they got Ben McKenzie that ridiculous mustache :P Oh well. Either way, it's a good art house movie that I'm sure most people will very much dislike, but it is a movie that you will remember for some time.
