Review of Jumping the Broom (2011) by Melissa B — 21 Aug 2011
Siggghhhhhh! I really wanted to like this movie more than I did. It featured so many performers that I like. Unfortunately, the four leads (the two mothers and the soon-to-be-newlyweds) come across as selfish and ego-centric.
The supporting roles were performed with more depth. Particularly good were Mike Epps, Romeo Miller, and Tasha Smith. Alas, poor Julie Bowen's comedic talents were wasted. She was given cringe-worthy lines that centered on white people's stereotypes of African-Americans.
And unless you have never watched a movie or television show. You already know how this one will end. That's not always bad, if the characters are appealing. As I mentioned before, the leads were not.
