Review of Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986) by Calum B — 14 Jun 2013
By no means a sophisticated spy caper (not that it ever pretends to be), Penny Marshall's feature directorial debut is a delight throughout. Originally conceived as a vehicle for Shelley Long, superior comedian Whoopi Goldberg adds much of her personality to our chief protagonist, a likable, gutsy outcast with a sharp tongue.
This is, indeed, Goldberg's show (notable for being one of the first to feature online communication as a central plot element), and fans of the actress will rate this as one of her better comedic performances.
