Review of Jumper (2008) by Bryan R. N — 08 Jul 2014
A pretty cool concept executed like a$$. Our main character is David Rice, played by Hayden Christensen, and is a pretty boring character, with the posters and advertisement for the movie making him look pretty bad*ss, I expected a lot more. However there is a character, played by Jamie Bell, that comes closer to that bad*ss lead I was expecting. It's much more charismatic and actually knows how to use his power during action scenes; our main character doesn't, and that's a pain, it wouldn't be one if he actually was interesting or charismatic or whatever. Samuel Jackson's character is kinda cool, but not that much. He gets the antagonist role done. There's also the romantic lead that, is just your typical romantic lead and doesn't do anything. She's the one to be rescued and such.
The music isn't there most of the time. I mean, they just play some actual songs from actual artists and, wasted John Powell most of the time. I remember hearing the same piano piece like 3 times during the movie, maybe more.
The story isn't anything great, I mean it wouldn't need to be if the action scenes or the characters were more interesting.
Jumper is, again, a cool concept, executed in a really dissapointing way. It has some cool ideas and scenes but with characters so wasted and action scenes that, again, have some nice ideas and one or two cool scenes, it is a really disappointing and overall bad movie.
