Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by Liam H — 13 Mar 2018

At first watch this movie was entertaining however afterward I realised the plot was very thin and I probably wouldn't watch it again. The acting by the young characters at the start and the end of the movie is really corny and I don't blame the actors themselves, I blame the material for that.

This movie is based on humour and features video game tropes very prominently. At first watch I found the video game element of the movie to be good entertainment folly however after the movie ended I realised they only did this because the plot was so thin and they had no other ideas.

The actors are all good in their roles and the movie is meduiumly funny all the way through. Again however there are drawbacks to this because the original Jumanji movie was scary, eerie, well written and was done on a grand scale.

This movie doesnt do those ideals justice it was heavily reliant on humour and video game tropes. I also felt like there should have been more animals involved...considering they were in the jungle after all.

Of the animlas that were featured they were clearly CGI and I felt it would have been more realistic to use real animals for the close up's at least. This movie did entertain me when I watched it however after the credits rolled I realised this was only on a superficial level and there was no depth to it.
