Review of Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) by Afm185 — 25 Jun 2020
About what I expected. Maybe a little better than I expected. It’s on the same level as the first in just about every single way. They provide a fun videogamey story that looks really good, has some funny lines here and there, and some decent enough dramatic moments.
The new characters are fun, and provide the in-game cast a chance to play some interesting roles. The only thing that bothered me was it’s pretty clear when the characters lives are reduced it’s just set up so that during the finale they’ll all have a single life left.
And I wasn’t really worried when they did. However, this does allow for some fun moments. One in particular only kinda worked for me. Felt a bit cheap. The movie didn’t impress me all that much, but it’s a good time.
Wouldn’t mind another one. Would give it a 6.5 if that were an option but wouldn’t bring it all the way to a 7.
