Review of Julius Caesar (1953) by Bob S — 09 Jan 2007
It's well-acted, for the most part, but after the murder of Caesar it really drags. The last 45 minutes are a cure for insomnia. And what the hell was up with Garson?
I must say that Julius Caesar has never been my favorite of Shakespeare's plays; I prefer something with a little more substance and character depth, that is really involving and draws you in (like Hamlet).
That aside, this is a decent film. But I'm sure there are much better adaptations of Shakespeare out there.
