Review of Juliet of the Spirits (1965) by Timothy S — 16 Sep 2007
It wasn't until Wong-Kar Wai and Kieslowski came to the fore that anyone else used colour in such a ravishing and insanely beautiful way. Fellini was ridiculously indulgent, but he was also cursed with a total inability to make anything uninteresting.
Next to "La Strada", my favourite of his films. It really shouldn't work as a movie, seeing as there's almost no plot or continuity, but god damn it, it does!
