Review of Julie & Julia (2009) by Billys — 10 Aug 2009
Julie & Julia would have been two great movies had they been made independently of each other, melding them together was pure genius by Nora Ephron! Both stories are immensely entertaining and perfectly cast and designed in two different eras, the thing is though, when you have a performance so channeled as Meryl Streep's, you tend to overlook the whole movie and remember Julia Child.
Even the clip of Dan Ackroyd's famous take on SNL, you are thinking of Streep's Julia and not the real Child! Much like Philip Seymour Hoffman's Capote, Meryl Streep becomes Julia Child and wins you over from frame one right up to that walk up to the podium on Oscar night 2010!!! An Iconic Performance from an American Icon.
