Review of Julie & Julia (2009) by Francisca M — 28 Dec 2011
A delightful movie about a young chef and her relationship with Julia Child. I did not even know it was based on a book until I read the summary above this review. An interesting read that I may have to check out.
I personally have not read much or had much interest in Julia Child. Her story was nicely presented in the film. Amy Adams is adorable as Julie Powell and Meryl Streep is a hoot as Julia Child. I adore Stanley Tucci.
He has a charm about him. I wish I got more from the couple, Eric and Julie, or that we saw the Cobb Salad crew more later on after Julie's achievement. It's still a nice movie and since it's based on a true story, I thought it was great that Julia didn't like Julie's blog.
Kind of funny. I think I love Julie's voice-overs about food (more than Julia's dialogue). Overall, an enjoyable movie on relationship, food and tons of butter.
