Review of Jules and Jim (1962) by Dan L — 07 Jun 2007
Cinematic poetry, a study of shocking independence and the sometimes depressing freedom of life. Truffaut's camera is the film equivalent of Neruda's early poetry. The three leads (Henri Serre as Jim, Oskar Werner as Jules, and Jeanne Moreau as Catherine) are all phenomenal.
Described by its director as "a perfect hymn to love and perhaps to life," "Jules and Jim" is beautiful, endearing film for the romantic realist.
