Review of Jules and Jim (1962) by Stephen C — 18 Feb 2008
One of the Best French new wave movies there is.
Truffauts love story with a twist is full of memorable moments and makes most modern romantic films look like dead ducks.
The 3 leads are all great and Jeanne Moreau is at her most alluring here.
The film feels as though it was shoot on the hoof thanks to ace Ciematographer Rauol Coulthards stunning camerawork.
Truffaut would later beaccused by more of his extreme contempories for selling out and making films aimed more at the popular market.
I for one feel this is unfair as Truffaut is still as Relevant today as he was back in 1959.
A masterpeice then from a master director.
