Review of Jules and Jim (1962) by Ben W — 21 Sep 2008
Sorry, but truffaut just isnt the film maker to me that he seems to be to most everyone else, albeit I love the doinel cycle. there are some interesting things about the movie and I can respect it for the novel way in which it tells its story but the bottom line is that it didnt move me.
when you leave characters by the wayside, dont follow up on them, then torture your characters endlessly, you might make a decent film but your audience probably isnt going to walk away with the same profound impression that you were left with.
but....there really were some great moments, especially 2 that seemed to work perfectly with the music.
