Review of Jules and Jim (1962) by James-Masaki R — 04 Aug 2011
Had no idea this was based off true events until after watching it. One of Truffaut's most accomplished, a love triangle that actually features no sex, rarely features jealous emotions or anger towards one another.
As unusual as that sounds, Jules And Jim works because it doesn't feature any of those cliches. The relationships gone on and off throughout the years between the 3 are portrayed in a very repressed style for the men, but very freespirited through the female view, will make it obvious that the story is told through a male writer.
Ironically, the women in the 60s loved and wanted to model after the Catherine character (in a slutty way), which was not anything the original writer intended... silly how things end up.
