Review of Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) by John A — 17 Aug 2009
Spencer Tracy's seeming innate ability to portray openness, empathy, and understanding really elevates this film beyond a simple courtroom drama. The move from conflict to courage in his character is esp.
compelling. Each of the other actors play their roles well (esp. Widmark). Kramer's camera seems a bit too showy for the material, though some variety was needed to spice up the courtroom scenes. And the film was longer than necessary, though it has an important message about responsibility.
