Review of Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) by Steve W — 03 Jun 2010
Truly a masterpiece. Nothing short of brilliant. Stanley Kramer was one of the most controversial directors of the century. I love the ensemble genre, and this is one of the best. To have actors like: Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Richard Widmark, William Shatner, Maximillian Schell, and Montgomery Clift (in his best role), all in the same movie is incredible! I was so unprepared for this film.
If you are suspecting a typical Black&White Courtroom Drama, you've come to the wrong movie. This film shows actual footage of concentration camps, and the brutal happening that took place there. I was so shocked that I had to leave the room.
Now, that is the sign of a powerful film.
