Review of Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) by Daniel T — 22 Jan 2011
Amazing performances and direction, with some of the best camera work I've seen in a long time. A bit choppy at times with editing and certain technicalities (mostly involving translation; everbody miracoulously speaks English, and Germans can speak with Americans without the need for translators, as we see in the final scenes).
Despite this, the film is a wonder to behold. Schell easily takes command of every scene, and Spencer Tracy plays a laid back character who finally lets his rage go at the end of the film. Very moving and very memorable, though I'm not sure I'll watch it again for a while.
