Review of Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) by Reid V — 16 Mar 2011
Both Oscars here were totally warranted, particularly Schell's as the German defense attorney. I really loved the direction--particularly Kramer's sparing (and so magnified in power) camera movements--and the film had a terrific look to it, incorporating stock footage seamlessly within the the narrative.
This film is terrific and horrifying because of how it condemns humanity for the atrocities inflicted by the Nazi regime--but, importantly, implicitly sanctioned by the whole world--before and during World War II.
