Review of Jude (1996) by Tony — 02 Sep 2008
Profoundly sad adaptation of Hardy's novel, one of the saddest books ever, to the point it borders on being a horror film. Eccleston, Tom Wilkinson, and Rachel Griffiths (Brenda on SIX FEET UNDER) give excellent performances, but Kate Winslet gives one of the best performances of the 90s.
She is devastating in the film's critical scenes.
