Review of Jubilee (2000) by Wayne Z — 27 Aug 2008
I was about 12 when I first saw this and not surprisingly it went right over my miniscule head. Now i'm all grown up I understand it all (a little) better. It is pretty fucking pretentious in places, but it reminded me quite a bit of one of the stranger early episodes of 'The Comic Strip Presents' as it has that same sort of avant-garde humour/style and look about it.
I bought it on both DVD and pre-cert VHS recently. I prefered it on the pre cert video. (Hey, perhaps i'm just as pretentious as this film is!) It still retains it's nastiness and the character Borgia Ginz is still very creepy.
Toyah Wilcox is the best thing abvout this film though and steals the show! (Although I am a HUGE fan of the original Adam & The Ants (who also appear)).
