Review of Joy Division (2006) by Steven G — 01 Aug 2008
This was a solid documentary that told the short story of a pivotal band. What I really like about this doc is that in so many ways it retains the style and aesthetic that Joy Division had even down to the layout of the DVD menus, to the filler imagery, and the editing of dialog.
Somehow, Grant Gee was able to capture the unique mood that Joy Division embodied and used it to tell an informative story of an influential and groundbreaking band.
