Review of Joy (2015) by Whoiam D — 22 Oct 2016
Joy is very overrated. It would have been an OK TV movie on Lifetime, but as a movie about a woman hawking a mop, it's not that compelling. Jennifer L is also unbelievably miscast in this movie. She looks about 22 years old and at the end, when she is supposed to be middle-aged, she looks about 18.
There is no way I believe her in this role. Studios, please stop putting baby actresses into roles that adults should be cast in. I'm sad that it was so boring. I was expecting some romance, sex, something but all we got was a story about a business woman who is about 18 years old and obsessed with housework.
Still, the mild old-movie-style tension saved it somewhat.
