Review of Joy (2015) by Liam P — 12 Jan 2016
Joy is far from a bad film, benefitting from a strong cast and David O-Russell's lively direction. But it's also too unfocused and uneven to be the great film it clearly shows the potential to be.
It lacks confidence in what exactly it wants to be, awkwardly shifting between Joy's chaotic family life and her far more interesting and compelling journey to become a successful inventor and independent businesswoman.
