Review of Joy (2015) by Brad S — 18 Jun 2016

This was a tough one for me to rate, because I didn't think it was a particularly bad movie, but I just didn't like it that much. It's tough for me to identify exactly where the film goes wrong as it's an interesting story and Lawrence is good in the lead.

David O. Russell had been on such a role with his previous 3 films, all of which I loved. Part of the problem here I think is that I didn't like any of the other characters at all. "Joy" goes through a lot of adversity, but there's rarely anything to lighten the burden on the viewer.

So, try and see to judge for yourself, worth a watch at least for lead performance.
