Review of Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) by Sarah O — 27 Jul 2010
How many cliches can we put in a summer movie? Hey, let's jump in a random cart and see if it takes us where we want to go. Uh-oh, I think I see a steep incline ahead! Everyone, hold tight to your 3-D glasses! Or, main man is lonely and getting up there in years (a.
K.a. nerd) and knocks on the door of a random house and who should come to the door but "Beautiful female." He is suddenly speechless, forgetting why he has come. But she's feisty and sassy and asks him what he wants.
That's when immature kid helps speak for him. After a little bit, she invites him inside and you can guess the final scenes of the film after that. Oh, yeah, and immature kid...can't stay immature.
The premise of the movie was fascinating, like one of the producers had a late-night revelation and that's what they decided to story board. After that, there is absolutely no creativity. "This is our last chance, I don't know if we can make it!".
