Review of Joshua (2006) by Andrew C — 13 Apr 2008
A quite subtle movie which isn't meant to be 'scary' in the supernatural sense but is more about breakdown and psychological suspense. The central character is beautifully played, and I liked the low-key, un-Hollywood style of it, the lack of flashy effects or simple resolutions.
I have to disagree with other reviewers, it really bears no resemblance to The Omen, apart from the fact that the subject is a young boy. Every event in the film has a perfectly legitimate explanation, even if the explanation is not a pleasant one.
