Review of Joshua (2006) by Dan B — 22 Nov 2011
Yet another bad seed variant, misleadingly marketed as a schlock horror (on screen the film remains named after spooky child Joshua; the more lurid title "The Devil's Child" appears only on the DVD sleeve).
Despite good intentions and a fine cast (though between this and Orphan poor old Vera Farmiga really is having an unlucky parenting streak), the psychological slow burn doesn't pay off, and you'd undoubtedly be better off with We Need to Talk About Kevin (which is definitely related to this genre, but kind of like a successful cousin who moved to another town).
