Review of Jonah Hex (2010) by Maksim B — 07 Feb 2011
Jonah Hex is an 82 minutes long insanity mixing already used ideas and concepts part of much better and successful movies from the past. This has resulted in an emotionless movie resembling a wrongly matched puzzle.
Besides the absolutely incoherent and filled with holes plot, the story - telling is uneven, skipping moments of probable interest for the audience, and adding up completely unnecessary elements and scenes. One could find elements of Wild Wild West, Clint Eastwood movies, underdeveloped supernatural explanations, some Indian shamanism-related mysteries and the completely useless Megan Fox.
Speaking of performances, it should be taken into consideration that Josh Brolin and John Malkovich do their best in this total disaster, but their efforts remain totally unsupported. On the other side, Megan Fox could easily be nominated for the most useless and unnecessary role in a movie ever. Her character is like a patch to the whole revenge story and instead of at least a decent performance from her, director Jummy Hayward focuses mostly on her lips and figure.
Watching this in the cinemas or renting in on a DVD is nothing but waste of your money. Even downloading it for free is quite an effort, whic Jonah Hex does not deserve in my humble opinion.
