Review of Jonah Hex (2010) by Garrett S — 27 Jun 2012
Blame the studio for hacking Jonah Hex to bits, not the script or the direction or the actors. Okay, maybe the script is a bit lacking, but Hex has all the hallmarks of being hacked to bits and recreated in the editing room.
The more gratuitous violence is shown off screen, characters are seemingly dropped in and out of the movie for no good reason, Megan Fox is utterly worthless and the story jumps around between past and present far too much.
The sub-90 minute run time is certainly a huge problem, since the story never has time to breathe. Brolin plays the character perfectly and the production looks more expensive than the budget would suggest.
Jonah Hex simply isn't very good...but could have been an entertaining flick without studio meddling.
