Review of Johnny Mnemonic (1995) by Wesley B — 04 Aug 2007
I always thought that Keanu can't really act, and this film proves it. The only time that I think he performed well was in The Matrix. He did kind of okay-ish in Constantine and The Devil's Advocate, but in the others, including in this Johnny Mnemomic film, he shows his talent is very limited, to say the least.
It's not only bad acting from the lead actor and actress and just about everyone else which makes this film so bad. It's also the story (or the absence of) and the lame plot.
The darkness of the atmosphere of this film has been compared to Blade Runner. But that is the only comparison you can make. The rest you just can't compare. Blade Runner is a first class sci-fi flick. Johnny Mnemonic is at the bottom-most of the pile.
Glad I didn't even spend money to rent the dvd. It was on in the hotel tv the other day.
