Review of Johnny Mnemonic (1995) by James H — 24 Feb 2011
-Keanu Reeves should never cut off his sideburns ever again. Ever.
-With how awful the cover art is, I should have skipped it but with how much I love outrageous 90's movies, I couldn't resist. (Damn it).
-The horrendous of this movie begins with AWFUL acting and dialogue within the first few moments of the film. Rest assured it doesn't stop there.
-The concept of "plugging in" and transporting data in one's mind is a great one. It was just executed terribly in this movie.
-Dolph Lundgren is billed as one of the top actors in the movie but really participates about 15% of the time and has a completely unnecessary character.
-Story? What story? This has almost no backbone and feels like it's going nowhere.
-On a plus-side, Dina Meyer definitely isn't hurtful to the eyes.
-On a minus-side, even the fact I was moderately buzzed while watching this didn't help it.
-It made me feel nostalgic about 90's films all over again with it's fantastic torn-to-shreds-looking parts of town, lighting, and alleyway scenes.
