Review of Johnny Mnemonic (1995) by Justin O — 26 Oct 2012
After seeing this film for the first time, I was not so enthusiastic. Now after viewing it for a second time I really got a lot out of it. The technological implications are right on point and there is some good dialogue here.
There is a lot of hyperbolic imagery but it is true in essence. The digital life now in a way has become this and the pharmaceutical company is good representation of companies and corporations today.
Keanu Reeves of course, is not liked by many but I feel he did a good job of being robotic and empty due to the evolution of digitalness. The plot was a bit incoherent at times but the satirical motif worked a lot for me because it did make it different.
A good representation of technological society path today and its road on the future and some interesting dark humor this film was pretty entertaining. It may seem bad to a majority but the satirical way it was made worked for me.
I won't lie there are some scenes which can be laughable, but it made it work for me and was fine experience for me.
