Review of Johnny Guitar (1954) by Matt M — 28 Apr 2013
Western about two strong women fighting over land and a peaceful guitar playing wanderer. One of the most influential westerns to date, the character of Johnny Guitar could also rate among the best characters in western history.
The film also strikes for its idiosyncratic use of strong female characters which was somewhat unusual for the American western genre. The performances are great, and the soundtrack signed Victor Young is memorable.
