Review of Johnny Guitar (1954) by P. P — 23 Dec 2013
This operatic baroque western won't be everyone. The marvelous dialogue, chock full of Freudian double entendres make this stylized western compulsively watchable. The costumes are marvelous. Ray dresses his heroine in fetish like corsets, boots and bright primary colours.
Joan Crawford and Mercedes McCrea had a real life rivalry. Their intense rivalry is palpable on screen. This is full on campy fun!
