Review of Johnny Gaddaar (2007) by Smarojit C — 20 Nov 2008
Undoubtedly one of the most brilliant films to come out of Indian cinema and Sriram Raghavan is one director to watch out for.
After the psychological 'Ek Haseena Thi', Raghavan proves his mettle in another crispy, delicious and gripping thriller that keeps to glued till the last frame.
A spicy storyline with a retro style of story-telling, weaving the plot around James Harley Chase novels and Vijay Anand films, 'Johnny Gaddaar' is a must watch for all films buffs.
Raghavan unfolds each frame with a different twist and it works big times.
Retro music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy gets a complete thumbs up.
Dharmendra rocks at this age too. Rimi looks sexy and I believe that she deserves much more work than she does. Vinay Pathak and Zakhir Hussain are matchless performers. Ashwini Kalsekar is amazing and new-boy Neil Nitin Mukesh is brilliant. A long way to go!!!
Embark upon this journey. Feel the anguish, pain and horror of Johnny G.
A must watch!!!!!
