Review of John Wick (2014) by Fleshworld — 23 Oct 2014
It seems that there have been more than the usual number of revenge flicks this year. We've had the equalizer, walk among the tombstones among others. What separates John Wick is the stylish action sequences and the overall lighthearted nature of the film.
You never feel that the bad guys are ever so intense and threatening that you are really put off by them. You don't ever feel the need for that cathartic boss kill when it's all over. The director does a nice job of establishing the legend of John Wick and just how important he is.
And the world of the hitman including all of the ancillary services such as the cleaning services the the hitman hotel and the gold coin currency all lend the film a degree of authenticity that seems to be lacking in other big budget films this year.
