Review of John Dies at the End (2013) by Nik S — 09 May 2013
John Dies At The End is a weird, trippy little film that subscribes to no genre, jumping from Sci-Fi to Horror, all the while conveying a dark sense of humor. It is part homage to past guilty pleasures and part insanely original, but the good definitely outweighs the bad and is worth keeping up with the brisk pace of story and the schitzo way its told.
Its a film that someone who doesnt smoke would say you need to be high when you watch it, yet at the same time a stoner would have a hard time following its style of storytelling. It seems it will have a difficult time finding its niche, but if it does find an audience, it has potential to be a cult hit.
If you can deal with the absurdity of it all, the film is definitely worth adding to your Netflix queue.
