Review of John Dies at the End (2013) by Zebada M — 06 Apr 2013
Okay, so I have no perception of what it would be like to watch this movie without having read the book. My rating is based on how well adapted the film is to the story... and all I have to say about that is.
.. "Awesome sauce!" If you took the enjoyably ridiculous literary journey of David Wong's (Jason Pargin's) writing, you will know that the parts that were adapted were mostly just as they were supposed to be.
.. which made it even more gross and hilarious to see. One star less because some characters and even crazier events in the book that I was looking forward to seeing were not included (because of time constraints, etc.
) All-in-all, it was zany, cool, campy fun! Kudos to Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, et al). p.s. Paul Giamatti always delivers.
