Review of John Dies at the End (2013) by Ben N — 16 May 2013
Totally unique and one of a kind. This is, by far, the closest I have ever seen a film come to visually depicting what it is like to dream. Nothing makes sense, but the script does it in such a way that you really don't care. If you are able to suspend your disbelief for the entirety of the movie, you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. As another review points out "some will feel its zany antics and gore lead to an unsatisfying payoff"... much like most dreams end. This movie has no point, and rightly so. It is not meant to portray some kind of universal truth - it is meant to grab you by the nose-ring and drag you through the mud and then drop you for no particular reason. Simply beautiful for being an anti-story for no reason whatsoever.
EDIT: Warning: Do NOT watch this movie while tripping balls.
