Review of John Dies at the End (2013) by Joe R — 27 May 2015
I cannot even begin to describe how awesome this mind-bending movie is. It had so many twists and turns.
It is such a fun, exciting romp, and it really makes you care about the characters.
It is super original, creative and funny. It has a great plot. It doesn't fit into one genre. It's sort of.
Sci-fi/Comedy/Action/Adventure/Paranormal/Horror/Bizzaro/Crime. Watching it is like being hit in the face with a brick of awesomeness. Read the book first, though. That is what my husband and I did, and we loved the movie to death. But we recommended it to a friend, and he watched it without having read the book, and he said it was convoluted and hard to figure out what was going on. But if you read the book first, it fills in the gaps perfectly. That is what happens when a 500-page book is adapted into a 90-minute movie. Some content has to be left out. It should've been made into several movies, like Lord of the Rings. :).
