Review of John Carter (2012) by Abel D — 01 Mar 2014
A weak first act, plagued by clunky dialogue, flat characters and lackluster humour (the urinating scene inciting groans) suddenly improves when Carter gets to Mars. To be precise, his first battle with Martian airships signalling a turning point: the effects get bolder and better, with some great vistas.
the action gets more intense and dynamic and the characters get little moments to shine, and even get the odd chuckle out.
