While the visuals and action are impressive, they are not so much that they substitute for an over plotted story and a dull, messy screenplay. Yes, Tron also put visuals before storytelling, but it did so in a manner that still kept the film generally good. John Carter, quite frankly, does not.
Everything this film does, Avatar does so much better.
