"John Carter" is a brilliant interpretation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novella "A Princess of Mars." I was a huge Burroughs fan when I was 12-reading Burroughs got me interested in science fiction- and even though I find him barely readable today, the boy in me adored this film.
Kudoes to all involved. As science fiction it is of course ludicrous, but as effective pulp adventure fiction it is wonderful. And the acting was superb.
