I am a fan of the original books and was looking forward to this film. I don't understand the low critic reviews, I really liked the movie. My only complaint would be that the character relationships didn't seem to develop enough for m tastes, so certain character motivations seem questionable at points.
Overall good though! Effects, design etc all above par.
