Review of Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (2007) by Sydney R — 10 Jun 2007
I remember when Joe Strummer died, no-one at work battered an eyelid! I couldn't believe it. But then I suppose this generation don't really know much about Joe Strummer...I certainly learned a lot about the man from this film.
He was a real icon and I think he remains so even after his death. You get that impression from the myriad of interviews all conducted around campfires. There's some excellent archival footage and the film isn't afraid to point out some of Strummer's mistakes and weaknesses.
I really loved this film, Strummer was a real people person and I left the cinema inspired. I could have watched another 2 hours of this easily.
